It's obvious that internet has created new ways of communication by introducing little by little new words (“web”) verbs (“chatting”) and signs (“:)”) and in my opinion consequently doesn't change only the langugage, also change the people who adapted to this new way of communicate.
As it is said in the video, technology has always changed the language. Although vocabulary or grammar haven`t changed so much, the style is completely different than it used to be.
Through history, language has adapted to different kinds of technological variations and has expanded both grammatically and orally. But the languages itself doens't quite "change", it just adjusts its form in order to survive the next generation.
As David Crystal says in the video, the language has changed. Although the grammar hasn't changed the style of the words yes, for example now we use lots of abreviations, insted of writing "you" we write "u". But I thing that it isn't good for the language because we are becoming uneducated people, sometimes when I have to write an essay I use this abreviations so I get a lot of mistakes. So the use of this changes of the language isn't good for anyone.
Technology is changing the way that we express ourselves and communicate. Now, instead of communicate face to face as they did years ago, we do the same by messages. This means so many changes in language. But in my opinion, many of them are not good for our language.
Internet has brought a new way to interpretate the languages, adapting it to a completely different kind of comunication. Crystal use the example of the ''emoticons'' as a new usage of the puntuaction, it means that the usual grammatical rules are reinterpretated by the people, making rise some characteristics of the face-to-face comunication. i think it could be bad because we can loose the ability to write and express in a correct way, but it also could be good because it can make the interactions more complete.
''Techology always changes the language'' in words of David Crystal. Printing changed it, as well as the telephone or broadcasting did. Internet brought the diversification of language, a language adapted to different situations, to different receivers. Each of the new technologies have created a new way of communication, a new language. And although its true grammar hasn't changed, the new styles have been created, as well as new vocabulary or punctuation. The bad side of gaining in different styles is from my point of view the risk to loose the habilities to talk and to write in an educated way. On the other hand, I think diversity is good for a language, to adapt it to all kind of speakers.
Although the grammar has not changed a lot and even if the languages are basically the same, new variations of the languages have been created due to the technological changes. As Crystal says new technologies give you the chance to communicate in a different way through electronically mediated communication such as blogs, chats,e-mail, social networks... And these different styles of communication are what we called medialects.
Over the years, language has suffered several changes. All these changes have taken place in different eras, but the most important factor in this transformation has been the technology. Within the wide components of technology we will focus on the Internet. Internet has brought a new way to communicate. Also, it has created lots of technological variations such as e-mail, chatrooms, blogging... these variations have created new vocabulary and punctuation. However, grammar hasn’t changed. All in all, this new style of communication has some disadvantages such as not talking and writing properly.
